colour section. In this diagram, the size of each segment of the pie is proportional to the number of paragraphs in the relevant section. Part 1 provides a general framework for geotechnical design; definition of ground parameters; characteristic and design values; general rules for site investigation; rules for the design of the main types of geotechnical structures; and some assumptions on execution procedures.

The table below shows both the common (white background) and different (grey) sub-section headings in Sections 6-9 and 11-12 of EN 1997-1.
