Scope of the book

Decoding Eurocode 7 provides a detailed examination of Eurocode 7 Parts 1 and 2 (ENs 1997-1 and -2), together with an overview of more than a hundred associated European and International standards that this major new geotechnical standard depends upon.

The associated documents include another fifty-six standards in the Structural Eurocodes suite (ENs 1990 to 1999); sixty-one geotechnical investigation and testing standards (EN ISOs 14688, 14689, 17892, 22282, 22475, 22476, and 22477); and eleven standards covering the execution of special geotechnical works (ENs 1536, 1537, 12063, 12715, 12716, 12699, 14199, 14475, 14679, 14731, and 15237).

The topics covered by the book (see Figure 0.1) include the Structural Eurocodes (Chapter 1); the basis of structural design and general rules for geotechnical design (Chapters 2-3); ground investigation, testing, and

characterization (Chapters 4-5); verification of strength, stability, and serviceability (Chapters 6-8); design of slopes and embankments, footings, gravity walls, embedded walls, piles, and anchorages (Chapters 9-14); execution of geotechnical works (Chapter 15); and geotechnical reports (Chapter 16).
